Full of fire, this vintage solitaire ring features a beautiful blue zircon claw-set in a raised coronet setting. Elegant knife edge shoulders taper to a sturdy half-round band at the rear.
Not to be confused with man-made cubic zirconia, zircon is a natural gemstone and one of the earth’s oldest minerals.
One of my favourite gemstones, its high refractive index combined with strong birefringence give it a unique sparkle & shimmer, like scattered sunlight through shallow tropical waters!
Likely dating to the late mid-century, it looks so pretty and elegant on the hand.
In excellent vintage condition, the zircon measures 7 x 5mm and is free from chips and abrasions, while the band is original width throughout.
