Antique Victorian Aesthetic Style Floral Brooch in Sterling Silver
AU $0
A gorgeous Late Victorian floral-themed sterling silver brooch with yellow & rose gold applique.
Depicting an urn filled with floral and foliate sprays and beautifully decorated with a combination of hand engraving and repousse work, the style is typical of English Aesthetic period jewellery. A selection of the blooms and leaves are highlighted in yellow and rose gold gilding, while the scene is framed within an intricate geometric border.
It bears Birmingham hallmarks for 1889 and a maker’s mark for Arthur John Smith, a known English jeweller of the era.
The brooch measures 37mm by 28mm & weighs 5.58g – ideal size for wearing on a lapel. It fastens securely with its original C-clasp pin.
It is in excellent antique condition with no loss to the gold applique and no flattening to the edge beads. All engraved detail is still nice and crisp.
A really charming antique brooch!
